First secure search Cloud application launced by Simplexo
7th July 2011
Today is the official launch of SearchYourCloud.
We have spent the last few days giving pre-release interviews to the press and getting positive reaction to our story regarding secure remote access. There is a growing feeling inside the business that this technology is truly unique, as everyone is talking about security in the cloud.
The development team are close to finalising the live proof-of-concept and we will be mailing people shortly with all of the download details.

Show time
22nd June 2011
Attended the Cloud Computing Forum at Olympia today. Slightly disappointed at the small number of exhibitors, but I guess that is a reflection of shrinking marketing budgets.
Certainly seems to be a strong trend towards cloud storage offerings plus a multitude of "things-as-a-service". The industry really seems to have embraced the cloud, and this trend is only likely to continue based on recent analysis by Forrester which suggests that global spending on public cloud services will top $160 billion by 2020.
Used the opportunity to talk with some potential partners ahead of the launch of our new service next month.

Attention all friends and family
20th March 2011
Today we have made our new preview product, SearchYourDesktop, available to selected friends and family. The aim is to get real-life feedback on the product form a wide cross section or people so that we can continue to enhance and develop the technology.
SearchYourDesktop is exciting because it combines a number of our different technologies into one service offering: federated search, unified results, desktop search, mobile etc.
We have also worked really hard on the security, so there is no direct pipe between the client device and host PC, and no complex firewall stuff to worry about. We've created a neat "connection broker" which passes encrypted messages between client and host, and the PC controls everything.
Initial reaction has been really positive, and this is just the start of some really exciting developments in the 'remote access' space.

Mobile World conference - the year of the tablet
15th Feb 2011
Having spent 2 days at the conference, walking around the exhibition halls and attending various sessions, it is clear that 2011 really is the year of the tablet.
All the major manufacturers are touting their "soon to be released" products, with caution being thrown to the wind in an attempt to avoid being left behind. Android is certainly represented in force and it will be very interesting to fast forward 12 months to see how the ipad versus playbook versus android battle plays out.
Whatever way it goes, Simplexo will be ready with products that exploit this new and growing user base.

Social Media and Business
9th October 2010
There has been a discussion in our office regarding the relevance (or otherwise) of social networking in business. This was sparked by some thoughts about future product direction and whether to include support for social networks in our mobile federated search application.
In the end, we concluded that business is inherently social. People rely on trusted relationships to get things done and favours are routinely exchanged in return for advice or knowledge. Corporate life is not just about what happens in the office.
Twitter allows less than 200 characters, but those characters can be used to great effect and need to be monitored. Facebook is being used as a marketing tool of choice by many large and small businesses. To turn away from these and to ignore them as periphery to corporate existence is to say that human conversation is irrelevant.
